Once again, Mywalit donated 5% of all online web sales from 25 November through 31 December to charities this year. The recipients were:
People living in extreme poverty have many needs, but Water 1st International believes water and toilets come first. There is a powerful and direct link between human development and convenient access to water and toilets. Through the implementation of sustainable, community-managed water supply and sanitation projects, Water 1st International is addressing the most fundamental issues of poverty, childhood death, and gender equality.
Flooding in Thailand in October has been described as the worst in decades, with the prime minister calling it a national crisis.
Nearly 270 people were killed in heavy monsoon rains, floods and mudslides, and more than 700,000 homes were destroyed or damaged.
Torrential rains caused rivers to overflow and streets to be flooded in Liguria and Tuscany in October and November. Multiple people were killed in flash floods and mudslides, many more were displaced from their homes, and it will take years to rebuild destroyed cities and towns in these areas.
