I spent the entire day a few months ago in Byron Bay at one of my customer’s shops not too far from where I live on the Gold Coast. I reveled in the opportunity to help sell Mywalit to his customers after showing him the next season’s samples. I enjoyed standing back and watching for the customers’ first reactions. I love the expression on people’s faces when they first see and then touch a Mywalit product - their faces really light up.

“Designed in Lucca, Italy. Aren’t they beautiful? ” I tell them that our products are a work of art and, in fact, there are some world famous museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York who are stocking Mywalit in their shops. They call it, “Art in Leather.”

I grab any wallet from the stand behind me and say, “You know you can take any one of these at random and you will be guaranteed that it is perfect!! Imagine if this contrast-coloured stitching was a millimeter off line. It would jump right out at you straight away.”

I think the factory that makes Mywalit is the most meticulous in the world. They have such a passion for their creations. I have customers who have stocked Mywalit for two years now and have never had a return. I continue, “Isn’t the softness of the leather gorgeous? The drum dyed process lets the colours soak right through the leather so you don’t get that annoying different colour scratch coming through that you get with spray dyed leather. The colours are almost edible aren’t they? I adore the Ultra Blue. The Toscana earthy colours are so natural as well. Oh and the handbags.”

As I sling a matching coloured handbag over my shoulder, I say, ”Almost worth a sex change!!” Well, you have to have a laugh. I get a bit passionate but it’s infectious and hey, you have to appreciate a thing of beauty in life.

Truth be known the wallet or handbag was sold before I opened my mouth so it’s not really selling I suppose but more of a mutual appreciation with a new Mywalit fan.

I am so fortunate to be in a business where I represent such an amazing product and I think, like everything in life, passion is the answer and it flows through all the people in the Mywalit family from the designer and founder Chris right down under to the shop floor.
